Due to the very low fat content, the oil is also ideal for overweight and food-sensitive dogs. ICEPAW Cod Oil provides your dog with vital omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which have been shown to provide dogs with valuable energy and can support metabolism, immune system and skin & coat. As a rule of thumb, the fattier a fish and the colder its habitat, the more omega-3 fatty acids it contains. Omega-6 fatty acids are absorbed by the dog in sufficient quantities through the meaty components in its diet. Omega-3 fatty acids, however, cannot be synthesized by the body itself from other nutrients. However, to ensure that your dog gets enough omega-3 fatty acids, the diet should be supplemented with a high-quality fish oil such as ICEPAW Cod Oil, which contains the fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in an optimal ratio. The higher the proportion of omega-3 fatty acids and the lower the proportion of omega-6 fatty acids, the more optimal the oil. Thus, a ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids of 5:1 to a maximum of 10:1 should not be exceeded.
